Re: Who Do You Say That I AM?
I was pondering the state of the modern church the other day and a few scriptures came before me.
-Who do you say that I am?
-I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the father but through me
-All authority in heaven is given to me by my father
Many people in the current church claim to be saved including leaders and pastors. Good works are done, songs are sung, and spirituality encouraged. But according to these verses, unless we know the Son, we will not make it to heaven.
So much time is spent on everything else, yet we spend very little time understanding who the Son is. We've reduced Him to a meek and mild mannered carpenter who had to die for us to make things right between us and His Father. He is much, much more. He is Judge, Bridegroom, and King. To think of Him only as one who dies and nothing else seems blasphemous and perilous to our eternal souls.
When I think about these ideas in context to what is being preached on Sunday morning, it causes me great concern about those who teach what they claim to be the gospel as well as those who hear it.
I worry that we are not as saved as we think we are.

I agree with you. Too many know Him as a sacrficial lamb and not an individual. with indivdual personality traits. I can only implore people to think of Him as a person not as we know people but as our king with an interst in what we learn in this our life and what are the benefits to this and the next life.
