A Lament
For the ones that were, to those that are, to the ones who will be:
Ever watching ever waiting,
Hoping that the truth will come
Success and fame are built upon
The broken, bruised, and dying ones
Told to join, “come, go this way”,
“This time it is different”
But instead, all that was found,
Was angry, arrogant, indifference
Castles built with paper leaves,
No one looks inside to see.
The head is turned, the eye is closed
Injustice reigns, its rite imposed
Strengthen darkness
Call it light
Break down all the will to fight
Those that would oppose the scheme
Meted out as They so deem
Truth used as a sword of red
Plots and sorrow forced to wed
Silence from the ones that bleed,
Murder from the ones that lead
The very thing they don’t believe
Allows the ones to serve and give
The very thing they will not see
Gives them peace and clarity
To arms in silence, wage no outward war
For it cannot be won or lost
on that dark, deceptive shore
Hidden away in the darkest of night
The ones that will gather, gather in might
Take up their harps from the willow trees
Sing and release the ones who bring grief
Open the eyes and help them to see
But only with love and purity
Determined for virtue
Relentless for right
Insistent on justice
Releasing the light
Ever watching ever waiting,
Hoping that the truth will come
Success and fame are built upon
The broken, bruised, and dying ones
Told to join, “come, go this way”,
“This time it is different”
But instead, all that was found,
Was angry, arrogant, indifference
Castles built with paper leaves,
No one looks inside to see.
The head is turned, the eye is closed
Injustice reigns, its rite imposed
Strengthen darkness
Call it light
Break down all the will to fight
Those that would oppose the scheme
Meted out as They so deem
Truth used as a sword of red
Plots and sorrow forced to wed
Silence from the ones that bleed,
Murder from the ones that lead
The very thing they don’t believe
Allows the ones to serve and give
The very thing they will not see
Gives them peace and clarity
To arms in silence, wage no outward war
For it cannot be won or lost
on that dark, deceptive shore
Hidden away in the darkest of night
The ones that will gather, gather in might
Take up their harps from the willow trees

Open the eyes and help them to see
But only with love and purity
Determined for virtue
Relentless for right

Releasing the light
